I did not understand your rationale behind what you said in the yesterday during your book release “A call to Honor – In service of Emergent India” So allow me the liberty of paraphrasing
- Did you answer to that call of honor, because one of the duties of a foreign affairs minister is to prevent the CIA infiltrating in India?
- All of a sudden you intend to speak to the Prime Minister, but you did not seek appointment. Nor have you revealed his name/details. I hope you realize the urgency of the issue.
- Are you sure your so called mole is real, and not a fictional character who is spicing up your otherwise boring book and get some free publicity?
- Are you a court which can decide if is worthwhile to book him for being a spy?. Of course by condoned his actions for 10 long years, you destroyed all hopes of damage control.
- BTW, by withholding this information for 10 years, you have become an accomplice in this spy network and are eligible for life imprisonment. (section 176 Indian Penal Code)
Updates: on 1st Aug Manmohan Singh cornered Jaswant in Rajya Sabha and asked him the specific question about the identity of the alleged mole. Jaswant Singh blabbered for about 120 minutes without giving any specifics. When Congress interjected and asked him to end the story, BJP proved that all this was a cheep plot of getting attention by getting the house adjourned.

In the interests of the Nation, instead of PM
talking of “decency” etc., he should be serious
enough to arrange an investigation into the matter and if found, wrong then they have a base against Jaswant.
As Prime Minister, he should have been concerned about the information given by Jaswant. Jaswant is also a carefully worded External Affairs Minister. Instead of personality clashes let them both sit and
look behind for the truth such that atleast henceforth they could plug in the loopholes.

Agreed that having a mole in the PMO office leaking the nuclear information is a very serious crime and should not be tolerated. but as I have tried to expressed that Jaswant seems to be only seeking some free publicity, rather than do something about it.
in 10 years he did not disclose his name…. was it because he need some witness protection program? ,
assuming if that is not the case, then why is he evading the question… simply reveal his identity or atleast hand over a sealed envelope with all the relevant details and then blame Manmohan singh if he does not take any action.
i am sure that CIA infiltrating in India.Many American students call themselves research fellows and go to remote areas and to border areas (India-Bangladesh /India_Nepal) mainly on the name of doing research.Have u ever thought that why they are going there?Can we go to the remote areas of their country on the name of “research”?we ll not even get our visa if we write that we are going to research on a sensitive subject/But we are Indians and we have a shameful characteristic to “admire” white people.so we give them permission happily.
I think CIA prefers not to use US nationals on the forefront because if they mess up.. the government is directly responsible. but clearly u would have seen otherwise.
well, infiltration is everywhere… India spys into Pak, US, China and they in turn do on us. but maybe some of these research scholars have real academic interest in the area.. After as as u said these area are remote and often neglected by the governments and the ruling army.
