A man wanted to enter an exclusive club but did not know the password that was required. He waited by the door and listened.
A club member knocked on the door and the doorman said, “Twelve.” The member replied, “six” and was let in.
A second member came to the door and the doorman said, “Six.” The member replied, “Three” and was let in.
The man thought he had heard enough and walked up to the door. The doorman said,”Ten” and the man replied, “five.” But he was not let in.
What should have he said?

he should have said 3 as there are only three letters in ten 🙂
bingo… you are correct
that was tooo good
well many possible answers. if we add twelve and six ,its eighteen. if we add six and three, its nine. so now is answer should be a multiple of nine, so he could have said “eight”.
or most probably doorman knew he is wrong guy and asked a wrong digit!
The answer should be “three” according to number of alphabates. twelve has six alphabates, six has three alphabates, and ten has again three.ok.
sourabh…
yes 🙂
the problem with the previous logic was that the order in which people were admitted became important… and there is no way for the a guy to know if he is 2nd 3rd or 4th. 🙂
