Everybody believes that the sale of carbon credits is for image polishing and reducing the eco-guilt. But I did not knew that this is not the first time mankind has tried it.
1517, the Pope raised money for Saint Peter’s by selling doctrine of Indulgences in spite of widespread protests from martin Luther and fellow reformists. He selected archbishop of Mainz, Albert of Brandenburg and Johann Tetzel, a Dominican friar to preach the indulgences and collect revenues. They sold the repetance earned by Christian priests to forgive the sins of the wealthy.
Now I am reading about sale of carbon credits. Owners of forests and windmills can clean the pollution of the rich industrialists. Something is telling me that the history is repeating itself?
