Oligarchic India

The Communist governments of China and Supreme court of India and Negrophobic Judges of Texas issue 80-90% of all the capital punishments awarded. But Indians have a vision to be Number 1, the global leaders. Today the wise men of the country issued a stray comment, but tomorrow the courts might even enforce Hanging of 10,000 elected representatives of the country by lamp posts to demonstrate their power. Why? Just to prove their power.

No wonder India is actually not a democracy but the world’s largest Oligarchy.

Indian Supreme Courts might not have time to give a verdict on the cases which have been pending for decades. It does not have enough man power to appoint judges for the posts that have been lying vacant for years, it does not have funds and the willpower to modernize/computerize its archives. Their own house is a mess, but it does have enough meddlers to intervene and sabotage the democratic proceedings of the nation. To me they are no better than that annoying neighbor I have who eavesdrops at my conversations.

I agree that all governments are stupid and most politicians are corrupt. “Andho Meigh Kana Raja” (A person blind with one eye will rule the blind subjects). But at least they answerable to the public, and are courteous enough to keep a tab on the pulse of the public. I can give you names of a 100 Indian politicians who did something remarkable for the country/state/region. Find me one judge who can made a difference or even became a statesman. I bet half of you do not know the name of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court or your local High Court? And they don’t know you. Then what empowers then to tamper with our democratic process.

There have been great dictators and emperors in this world, but very few empires could last more than their lifetime. Napoleon saw it crumble even when he was alive, while empires of Alexander and Ashoka could not survive the demise of their leader. Democracy is the only institution which can outlast its founders and has proven to flourish continuously for centuries.

What courts are doing is only weakening our fledgling democratic process. It is doing more harm than good.

Oh come on Pegasus!! The courts were just showing their frustration with that comment. But the courts definitely aren’t responsible for making us an Oligarchy. The sycophants we call our politicians are responsible for this. They are the ones treating members of family as demi gods.

When the courts rule some law as ultra vires, the politicians conveniently change/amend the constitution. Then what use is a court? What is the need for a constitution? Why have a supreme court whose rulings arent given any importance by our politicians? And I don’t believe what the court said was too wrong. The judge said that most people were out to loot the country and get rich at the country’s and it’s people’s expense. Looking at the corruption and kind of politicians around I can empathize with the judge. The judge has only said it, but believe me all our judges in SC will not pass any ruling going against the Constitution, but our politicians will!

History will show you that the politicians have always subverted the rulings to suit their end. Shah Bano case ruling was overturned by a law to appease the Muslims. Then to appease the Hindus the govt opened the doors to Ayodhya. See where that has gotten us. It all began with the ruling of a court being overturned. Same is the case with reservations, amend and force your laws through. And you blame the courts for the ills in our democracy.

And why is the judiciary a mess? Coz the govt isn’t really changing any of the laws to suit the current days. I do know who the CJ of SC is. And Karnataka had Justice Saldhana who has worked extensively in environmental issues.

You know what, this calls for a blog post from me too 🙂

:)) u write something which inspires me to write a post…. and then i write inspiring u to write… wow that will be a nice association.

if u hate the politicians then replace them.. its as simple as that… isn’t it but daily interventions by the courts are only eroding the powers of the democratically elected representatives.. and is doing democracy no good.

//And why is the judiciary a mess? Coz the govt isn’t really changing any of the laws to suit the current days.//
well in the present situation judiciary itself is creating, verifying, passing/approving all laws… BTW it does not require government intervention to clear the backlogs of court cases….. “Justice delayed is justice denied.”

I am not sure what to say… I feel Supreme Court cannot be that bad… they are not in the Public eye, that doesnt mean that they are oligarchic… then again… I agree about the pending cases comment! And also this one… “Justice delayed is justice denied.”…………….. I hope the people concerned read this blog of yours!! All the Best!

cranky: Thanks 🙂
//I feel Supreme Court cannot be that bad//
I agree their intentions are good.. but the whole problem is that their approach is wrong.

//they are not in the Public eye, that doesnt mean that they are oligarchic //
Well thats what the dictionary says.

What I believe is that if supreme court is committed to weed out corruption… it has to start punishing politicians who have been caught…. a couple of decades is too long a time

I think even though politicians start of as people who want to bring about good change in the society, greed creeps in and they all become the chips of the same block! I hope there is another way to get them back as honest politicians!
